What do you want people to know about your firm?
At Aptus, we are innovators. We strive to bring the best solutions to help better our clients’ needs. We want to be that go-to firm for technology and alternatives to the norm.
What do you love most about being a court reporter or being in the court reporting industry?
For me, it’s always going to be the fact that I get to help advance an extremely difficult and competitive industry. I have a lot of respect for the legal profession and having the opportunity to be an asset/ technology enthusiast while not directly working for a firm or having a law degree is something I take great pride in.
Given what you’ve seen in the last ten years, where do you think the court reporting industry is heading?
I think technology in general is going to dominate the industry. I think people will appear via the web more, even in the courtroom. I know I might be in the minority but I feel HD Video will become a standard for legal videographers. I think we as an industry have to get there since people are accustomed to that medium and it’s only becoming more advanced with 4K and now 8K technology.
Do you have any pet peeves that relate to the industry?
Improper presentation, lack of preparation and being close-minded when it comes to new technology. I think there are still too many firms and resources out there who just will not help advance the industry.
What is your most memorable court reporting moment?
It has to be one of our company’s most recent depositions where so much technology was used. We had our client in his office conducting a deposition using his computer and with the help of our Cameo Room, bridged into two firms in NY using legacy videoconferencing platforms. All parties also received real-time and utilized eDepoze. That was really exciting to see; all that technology coming into to play. More importantly, zero technical problems!
What is your favorite thing about working with Remote Counsel?
The software and the ease of use along with the support. Though rarely used, when support is contacted, they have an immediate response and solution.
What is the last movie you watched?
In theaters- Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. On TV –Se7en.
What is your favorite television series of all time?
Probably a tie between House, M.D. and Lost with Boston Legal not far behind those two.

Any new updates from your firm?
We’ve expanded our offices to Sacramento and Riverside, CA and hope to keep experiencing our successful and exponential growth.
